KRISTINA & JIM'S WINTERY MOUNTAIN WEDDING AT THE COPPERMINES COTTAGES | CONISTON, LAKE DISTRICT

This year started with a BANG! Within the first 12 days I'd shot a pre wedding shoot and Kristina & Jim's wedding. Is this what 'off season' looks like?! If so, then I LOVE it!

I'm always so impressed by couples who decide to get married in Winter and Kristina & Jim are no different! They knew when booking their wedding that a January wedding on a mountain was a risky game, however these two were more than prepared for the rain that came, and were so great to still agree to come outside for some couple photographs! (Even if we did lose an umbrella in the making of them!)

Their whole day strayed away from the traditional - which I obviously loved - and initially started with plenty of sore heads from the pre-party the night before in the hot tubs, (bacon sandwiches all round cured those pretty fast though). The day began with around 30 guests for their ceremony, making it a very close family affair and a lovely chilled out day, followed by their wedding breakfast in the tipi which was dressed to perfection with everyone sat around the open fire.

As the gales grew stronger, so did their number of guests and by 3pm all their beloved family and friends started ascending for the party element of their wedding. The rest of the afternoon and evening was filled with fun, laughter and plenty of singing with everyone celebrating with Jim & Kristina.

It was the most amazingly fun wedding to work and be part of and I'm thrilled I got the opportunity to capture some of their memories. I'll never forget Kristina & Jim's wedding day, from the uniquely beautiful intimate style to start with, to the gales of horror which followed. I'll pass you over now though to part of an email I received after their wedding day from Kristina:

"From the first email we got from you we knew we wanted you to photograph our wedding. You listened from the start and responded so well to what we wanted for our wedding day. You weren’t put off by our non-traditional plans, remote location and risk of adverse weather! Throughout the planning process you were so professional and efficient, but also approachable and flexible, which was important to us.

On the day you were absolutely fantastic. It was a pleasure to have you as part of our day as you just fitted in so perfectly. From the minute you arrived, we all felt comfortable around you and that continued throughout the day. Nothing really went to plan but you just went with it and were still assertive enough to get the shots we wanted.

As the weather took a turn for the worse, getting the couple shots was interesting but so much fun! I did feel a bit awkward at first but that soon faded as you so easily got us chatting and laughing. Thank you for taking the brunt of the horrendous weather so that we didn’t get too battered! You handled it so professionally, and your experience really showed as you were able to get the shots you wanted so efficiently.

As the afternoon progressed I barely noticed you at all (which is a compliment!!), but lots of people have said how lovely you were. To me, you were just part of the party but you were clearly working hard behind the scenes."

A massive MASSIVE congratulations to Kristina & Jim. I'll let their photographs fill you in on what I've missed!
